"Alexa, ask sphero to roll forward"
"Alexa, ask sphero to turn green"
Sphero is a toy robot with a javascript sdk.
Alexa is a voice interface.
Sphero can move, change colors, and create sounds.
Alexa can be customized to respond to users statements.
Toy robots are fun. Alexa is also a recent novelty because a person can talk to it and it responds back with voice. Wouldn't it be an amazing proof of concept to talk to Alexa and see a toy robot respond? As part of a proof of concept, SpicyKey LLC developed a demonstration.
Sphero's creators built a toy robot that is also an internet of things device. Most kids just play with sphero through its mobile app. Sphero's creators also built an API and SDK to control the toy robot.
Alexa can be customized to interact with other software. So it was easy to combine Alexa and Sphero.
The project was just an idea and built as a demonstration. Neither Amazon or Sphero participated. SpicyKey LLC used free software from both companies and on github to create the demo.
